BFI IMAX, Britain’s biggest screen, always goes big for Halloween and this year presents an all-night horror marathon of four films from the spooky Final Destination saga, on Friday 28 October at 11.45pm. The same day sees the opening of a week long run of the 1984 classic comedy favourite, Ghostbusters, which includes a performance on Halloween itself, Monday 31 October at 6.30pm.
Based around the themes of fatalism, predestination and precognition, the Final Destination films explore the many, and inventive, ways ‘Death’ recaptures those who manage to escape their fate the first time around. The All-Nighter line-up, which includes two of the films in 3D for extra-close chills, is:
Final Destination 2 (2003) 35mm 90 mins
Final Destination 3 (2006) 35mm 93 mins
The Final Destination (4) (2009) Digital 3D 82 mins
Final Destination 5 (2011) Digital 3D 92 mins
There will be short breaks between films with FREE tea and coffee to help keep everyone awake until dawn and a great atmosphere with prize giveaways galore.
Ghostbusters (A Digital Cinema Presentation), the most successful comedy film of the 80s, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis returns to the big screen this Halloween. It opens at BFI IMAX on Friday 28 October and plays for one week only, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy it all over again one more time!
University parapsychologists Dr. Peter Venkman (Murray), Dr. Raymond Stanz (Aykroyd) and Dr. Egon Spengler (Ramis) lose a research grant when their experiment methodology is proven to be bogus. The team decides to go into business for themselves and open ‘Ghostbusters,’ a ghost removal service. After struggling to get on their feet, they are summoned to investigate the strange happenings in Dana Barrett’s (Weaver) Central Park West apartment. What they discover is that all Manhattan is being besieged by ghosts and other worldly demons through a portal in her building.
Ghostbusters was directed and produced by Ivan Reitman, with the screenplay by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.
NB. None of the above films will be shown in IMAX.
